3rd Workshop on Structural Biology

The Cross Program Activity Structural Biology of the Helmholtz Association is a network of eight Helmholtz Centers from three research fields and coordinated by the Helmholtz Zentrum Munich, chaired by Prof. Michael Sattler. Structural biologists met for the 3rd Workshop to present research highlights and new developments of structural biology within Helmholtz and at a national level. The workshop was held together with the thematic working group “Structure-based drug discovery” of the Helmholtz Portfolio Programme “Drug discovery”. The meeting was organized by Prof. Oliver Daumke at the Max-Delbrück Center in Berlin from Nov 5-6, 2015 and brought together about 80 participants who use state-of-the-art methods to study the structural mechanisms of biomedically important proteins and protein complexes with RNA, DNA and small molecules. Session topics included “Structure based drug design”, “Integrated Structural Biology”, “Brand new structures” as well as presentations on existing and upcoming facilities at PETRAIII.
