Neutron scattering

Neutron diffraction and scattering, in combination with isotope labeling (H-D exchange), allows visualizing molecular structures in situ and describing the dynamic behaviour of biological macromolecules. This is of special importance for the understanding the functional role of water molecules and protons in biological processes. Small angle neutron scattering (SANS) combined with contrast matching is a powerful technique in integrated structural biology of protein complexes.
